Follow instructions to clean up and process the Architectural Model :
Clean up according to section B.2-9.
After saving the model in section B.9, do not close model.
Within Revit, select File > Save As > Library > Family.
In the Save Family dialog box, navigate to the “.\11 Drawings\Revit\Families\Annotation Symbols\” directory. Select the <All Families> option in the Family to save field, before selecting Save. Please be aware that this process could take up to ten minutes to complete, depending on the families the other Consultants have within the Revit model. Click Save.
If the Replace Existing File dialog box appears, select Yes to replace the existing file.
Once the process has completed, open Windows Explorer and navigate to “.\11 Drawings\Revit\Families\Annotation Families\”. Place the window next to your Revit Project Browser Window, with the Families > Annotation Symbols category expanded.
In the Windows Explorer window, select only the items that appear in the Families > Annotation Symbols category within Revit, by left clicking and holding down the (Ctrl) key on the keyboard.
After you have selected all the items, navigate within Windows Explorer to Home > Select > Invert Selection.
Press the (Delete) key on the keyboard. When the Delete Multiple Items dialog box appears, select Yes.
Save and close the Architectural Revit model.
Within Revit start a new Project from a Template. Select File > New > Project.
Browse for Template file within the Choose Template dialog box, in the Overhead Project Folder directory. Please make sure you choose the appropriate Revit year for the project, dependent on the Revit model that the Architect has shared with our design team. Open the appropriate Template by selecting Project, under the Create new heading within the New Project dialog box, and click OK.
Within the Project Browser window, double click on a floor plan to open a Floor Plan View.
Go to the Ribbon > Insert > Link Revit.
Browse to the “.\11 Drawings\Revit\Original” directory, and select the Revit model for linking. Select the Auto – Internal Origin to Internal Origin option for Positioning. Click Open.
Press the (z) key on your keyboard and then press (Enter) to zoom to the extents of the current view.
In the Floor Plan View select the linked Architectural model. Make sure that the Select Links tab at the bottom right corner of your Revit window does not have a Red X, or you will not be able to select the model.
After selecting the link Revit model, pin it to its current location. Navigate to Ribbon > Modify > Pin (i.e. Thumb Tack button).
Press (escape) key to deselect the model.
Repeat sections C.14 through C.18 for all subsequent Revit models you would like to link.
